Uni/College Life | | My 5 Tips

Monday, 6 February 2017

Hey Guys,

I wrote this little post for those who are making their way through college/uni. Studying in university is quite tough and these tips are very handy because they come from a student aka me. :) Hey! I am still in university; a smart little Masters student. So, here we go :

1. Priorities - From the very first lecture of the semester, you must have a list of goals. You must set your priorities and these priorities should be about getting great marks. I mean of course you want to taste the new found freedom and try wacky things. But, now that you're here and you've paid a hefty tuition, it will be stupid to ignore all the knowledge coming your way.

2. Organize - A great student is always organized. They closely follow their schedule and set up reminders for upcoming assignments, tests etc. My greatest tip is to revise constantly. Take 10 mins out of your day to go over your notes. This will prepare you for any pop quiz or test.

3. Your crowd - The kind of people you hangout with definitely impact your behaviour. If your friends are slackers, rebels, then forget about being organized.  Hangout with people who have similar priorities. People who are here for the right reasons. Not those who just come for the "experience" and eventually dropout. Bad influences can thrust you towards danger. On the other hand, you don't need to hangout with all bookworms. A healthy balance is perfect; good friends remind you about upcoming deadlines and discuss things about the lectures.

4. Balance - Its always good to balance studies and other activities. Too much studying can drain your creativity. Join clubs and competitions ; these activities can help you de-stress and temporarily distract yourself from studies. Several universities require you to complete extra curricular activities; so be proactive and join teams !

5. Support - This is a crucial time in your life; therefore stress and tears are usually inevitable. You start thinking about the future, opportunities, finances etc. You need support; friends, family, and professors are here for you. Go and talk to them if you need to. Don't be shy. Clear your doubts and take advice. Nobody expects you to figure everything out on your own. Its okay to be lost sometimes.

  2. I definitely agree with you about hanging out with people who have similar priorities to you. It can be so easy to be influenced by others without even realising it xx
